Flue Gas Treatment

DeSOx & Acid Control

Our DeSOx & Acid Control systems are, mainly, based on dry reagent (absorbent) injection philosophy. These types of systems are one of the most attractive options for SOx control and have become more popular technologies in the Europe and US, than in other areas of the world. The above systems are, usually, designed to remove SO2, SO3, HCl and HF with the injection of hydrated lime or sodium bicarbonate.

The main groups for typology of above equipment are:

  • In-duct reagent injection;

  • In-duct reagent injection with reactor;

  • In-duct reagent injection with reactor and with reagent + dust mixture recirculation.

Our tailor-made approach for all the above typologies and configurations gives the possibility to cover main important applications and main process condition for almost all industries, where there is the problem of acid gas/fumes.

Waste-to-Energy plants revamping

One of our most groundbreaking areas of expertise lies in the revamping of Flue Gas Treatment (FGT) lines.

A recent highlight is the project involving the modernization of two FGT lines at a Municipal Solid Waste Incineration Plant in France. This initiative is part of a broader series of projects commissioned by Suez., showcasing our commitment to advancing environmental technologies.

This specific project is being implemented in very specific and challenging disassembly and erection activities, both in terms of timing and lifting operations, consist of:

  • Replacement of electrostatic filters (ESP) with bag filters;

  • Injection of Sodium Bicarbonate into the new bag filters, while the injection of Sodium Bicarbonate and Activated Carbon remains active in the downstream existing bag filters;

  • Innovative configuration of reagent injection in the two stages of filtration with the implementation of a reactive regulation strategy to achieve the desired results in full accordance with BREF,

while reducing the consumption of reagents and, thereby, limiting the need for DeNOx catalyst regeneration.

  • Implementation of an interchange system for residues storage, allowing each of new bag filter to discharge into both existing silos;

  • Installation of a heat exchangers (economizers) after the SCR DeNOx catalyst for the better fumes waste heat recovery (WHR), reducing in the meantime the temperature of the exhaust fumes up to 140°C;

Objectives:

  • Comply with the emission limits set by the new BREF (the low thresholds for pollutant concentrations), including mercury;

  • Minimize the need for catalyst regeneration;

  • Reduce the consumption of reagents;

  • Decrease the amount of residues discharged by the system;

  • Lower water consumption;

  • Increase energy recovery;

  • Overall:

    • Reduce operational costs for both flue gas treatment lines as much as possible;

    • Enhance the flexibility of certain activities common to both flue gas treatment lines;

    • Improve the performance of the plants.

Mercury, Heavy Metals & Dioxins Control

Our Mercury, Heavy Metals & Dioxins Control systems are based on activated carbon injection philosophy. These types of systems are in full accordance with the Best Available Technology (BAT) of activated carbon injection systems to control mercury, heavy metals and dioxins

Our multi-year experience with these types of systems confirms their efficiency up to 85-90%. Obviously, it depends on the pollution process typology and the configuration of whole configuration of pollution control system adopted.

Our tailor-made approach for all the above typologies and configurations gives the possibility to cover main important applications and main process condition for almost all industries, where there is the problem of Mercury, Heavy Metals & Dioxins in gas/fumes.
